Owning our faith means practicing it.
Jesus taught us that owning our faith meant doing. If we own our faith, we will be putting it into practice.
That means keeping the commandments of Jesus.
In the parable of the two builders, Jesus told us that owning meant building our life upon His words.
He coupled the words hearing and doing.
”... if any man hears these sayings of mine and does them...”
in Luke 6:46, Jesus asked a question of every professing Christian:
”Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do the things I say?”
This is a penetrating question and seeks a response from every would be follower of Christ!
He tied doing to ownership as well in Matthew 7.
““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
(Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV)
