Owning our faith is something we do by keeping the commandments of Christ, and building our life upon His teachings.
Jesus told us in Matthew 7 in the parable of the two builders, that living the Christian life means following, putting into practice, His sayings.
Owning our faith is about hearing the words of Jesus and doing them.
Jesus tied our work to legitimate salvation by asking this question in Luke 6:46:
”Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do the things I say?”
He also said that many will come on the Judgment Day and confess Lordship, but on the contrary, do not truly know Him, because they did not practice what He taught.
““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
(Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV)
Owning means doing.
Do you own by doing?
